The theme of the depiction of the urban landscape was known even under Babylon, the artists of the Middle Ages repeatedly turned to the theme of the urban landscape of “Heavenly Jerusalem”, in the 18th century the theme was formed into a separate genre. Kyiv landscapes were painted by masters of painting: Taras Shevchenko, Mykhailo Sazhin, Vasyl Shternberg, Mykola Pymonenko, Olexander Bogomazov and many other famous artists.
The theme of the urban landscape is devalued by street trading and reduced to the idea that the landscape of Kyiv is exclusively a souvenir painting. The theme of the urban, recognizable landscape of the capital of Ukraine is practically given to the tearing apart of the tourist service department. Meanwhile, society regularly voices its request for works of the highest quality in various artistic doctrines and ideologies, but dedicated to our capital.
So, we declare: “Kyiv landscape from famous masters exists!” And this is only begigning!
